          FAQs

  • How long does a genealogical research take?

The duration of the research basically depends on the sources and the volume of the research. Averaged, you can expect a research of 4 generations to take around a month, research of 5 generations around two months, and a research as far back as possible between four to six months.

  • Is this your full-time occupation?

Mr. Berger is doing these activities as a main job, Mr. Gartler additionally works at the Caritas.

  • Why is the research of 5 generations so much more expensive than the research of 4 generations?

It's necessary to realise that the number of ancestors doubles per generation (2 parents - 4 grandparents - 8 great-grandparents, ASO) and the number of ancestors of 5 generation equals the double amount of ancestors of the 4th generation.

  • Which sources do you use?

The sort of source to be used depends on the research question. E.g. the main sources for the building of a family chart are the church registers, which lead back in Austria to the 16. or 17. century.Welche Länder forschen Sie?
